Earlier this month, the Texas Republican Party — or should I say the Texas Tea Party — held their convention in Fort Worth with the outcome being the most divisive and polarizing platform I have ever witnessed. Their Party is blatantly expressing that their values are not consistent with the values of the majority of Texans.
Our mission is to get our message of diversity and inclusiveness to the voters, then get those voters to the polls. There is room for everyone under the Democratic umbrella. Just like any family or organization, you might not agree with or like everything, but it is far better than the other option!
Where were you the last two weeks of June 2013? I, along with many of you, can remember exactly where we were and would gladly do it again. The fervor and excitement was unparalleled to anything I had ever witnessed. We must have that same degree of fervor, excitement and passion from now through the close of polls on November 4, 2014.
I am so excited about the Texas Democratic Party Convention in Dallas. You will have opportunities to attend multiple caucuses, and trainings, visit vendor booths, and get reacquainted with other Democrats from across Texas. Network and party, in addition doing to the business of the convention. So pack your bags and be sure to include your pink running shoes! Texas Democrats have a dynamic slate of candidates and will put forward a platform that the majority of Texans will embrace.
Remember, TDW booth in exhibit hall, the Women’s Caucus from 10:30-12:00 on Friday on the convention floor and the Lady Bird breakfast at 8:30 on Saturday.
I look forward to seeing you in Dallas.
