After a great retreat, we are moving on with interest in forming new chapters. Dallas County may be active again. Two former TDW Presidents, Betty Richie and JoAnn Jenkins are leading the charge. Judy Baker, our NFDW Vice President, is working with two groups in her area and one club in the Valley is finishing their bylaws.
Tammie Hartgroves and I attended the TDP hosted Debbie Wasserman Schultz event in Austin where TDW was a sponsor. It was well attended and I saw faces there I had not seen before, a very good sign! Especially in Austin where there are a lot of Democrats and to see people I do not know; we are reaching out.Two ladies I talked with will be checking out the next CADW at our next meeting.
Clubs across the state are beginning to celebrate with anniversary parties, selected elected speakers, and getting out their recruitment talents to get some local candidates. In the meantime, we are awaiting Wendy’s decision with others to follow. How about two women at the head of the Democratic ticket? We could really sink our teeth and our talents into that one!
While waiting – recruit local canidates – school board is a good start. Who better to talk about children and education than us women!
2014 will be upon us in a very short time – talk up candidates, get them to file, then get them elected.
