December 1, 1922 – December 19, 2014
The Highland Lakes chapter of TDW lost a beloved and valuable member just before Christmas: Naomi Dian Fletcher Bowers was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away in Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott, and is survived by two daughters, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was an active participant in her community, from Iowa to California to Georgia and finally, to Texas. She became an LVN in her fifties, and was a member of the League of Women Voters and Texas Democratic Women. She served on the first Silver-Haired Legislature in Texas and was a founding member of the Senior Center in Marble Falls as well as the Highland Lakes Democratic Women. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls for more than 40 years.
She was a strong woman who lived life her way and to the fullest. She made lifelong friends wherever she went and was still in touch with people in California, New York, Florida, Iowa, South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and fellow Democrats.
