First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all of your hard work, for sparing your valuable time and efforts to get out the vote. We have many victories to celebrate and it was possible because of the help of volunteers like you and many others.
With the re-election of President Obama, I can honestly say it was also a victory for all women. I’m not saying victory was easy, but what I can say is we fought hard; along with the men who stood by our side. We have much to celebrate. But, let’s not let our guard down. We will always continue the fight!
I want to sincerely congratulate all of our winners and recognize all those who fought a hard fight, but didn’t quite make it. I wish you all a successful tenure. We look forward to working with you in the near future. Now, after a victorious election, I, too, am winding down my year as President of the Texas Democratic Women. To have been President twice during 2008 and 2012 has been very special to me. I was honored to have served. In 2008, we made history in America. To have been President at that time is something I will always be proud of. And, in 2012 celebrating 25 years in this organization and to have four more years of a great President, well, I’m ecstatic and couldn’t be more proud.
As we move forward with our new President-elect, Donna Beth, I have faith that we will continue being very successful and keep moving forward to reach greater heights. We still have much work to do, as we have all heard, “A women’s job is never finished.” We still have a fight to turn Texas Blue again! And I wish I could say that one woman can do it alone, but reality is that one woman can guide. But, she will always need a helping hand. So women of Texas (and America), we dodged it this time, but know for sure that the Republicans will attack us again.
Again, Thank you so much for all of your hard work, for standing with me and for being a big part of Texas Democratic Women. I can only say that good things are yet to come for TDW. Plan to be a part of it.
I wish all of you A Blessed and Happy Holiday season.
Best to all,
Gloria Caceres, President
