Saturday, October 17, Greater Arlington Mansfield Democratic Women recognized Ann Price, past TDW treasurer and current GAMDW treasurer, with a dinner and program in her honor. Ann showed souvenirs of Highclere Castle bought during her recent visit with family and friends in England. We were pleased to hear Rollin Phipps from UTA reflect on the changing role of women in the early decades of the 20th century through examples of characters and events from the “Downton Abbey” series. At Audrey Wick’s lovely home in Interlochen, the event committee presented a British-themed buffet that included delicious corned beef hash sandwiches! GAMDW gave Ann several gifts, a tray cautioning her to “Keep Calm and Carry On” and a mug for coffee since Ann confessed she doesn’t drink tea. Ann also received a black and white mosaic stone for her own English-style garden. Ann’s son-in-law, both daughters and her granddaughter were present to share the evening with her. Thanks to Ann, the chapter raised more donations to local Democratic candidates in 2016.
