The Bell County Texas Democratic Women recently awarded four scholarships at their June meeting, three Women Helping Women scholarships and the Richard E. Morgan Memorial Scholarship. This year the club made a goal to award an additional scholarship and with the hard work of scholarship chair Staci Reznik, they were able to reach that goal. The applicants are scored on leadership, need, academics and an essay about what the Democratic Party means to them.
This year’s winners are, from left to right: Maddie Price of Salado H.S. She plans to attend Angelo State and study Biology; Jasmine Burroughs of Harker Heights H.S. She plans to attend the University of Texas-Arlington and study nursing; Gene Guy of Temple College. He plans to continue his studies in Business Management; and Jordan Jones of Ellison H.S in Killeen. She plans on attending the University of Texas and studying Biology. The awardees are flanked by scholarship chair Staci Reznik and BCTDW President Brigid McIntyre Evans. BCTDW is very proud to be able to help these future Democratic leaders with their education.
