I love spring. It signals not only good weather, but it is a chance for renewal. As you will be receiving this after Blue Ribbon Lobby Day, I am sure many of you are feeling a sense of renewed passion; a sense of renewed hope.
It is important that we take this renewal back to our chapters. We have the opportunity to get re-excited about politics and what we can do to bring about change. This starts with building up our chapter’s membership and helping start new chapters. We will need strong, passionate, democratic women as we head into the 2016 political season, which has already started. We need members who will provide resources like money and time. We need members who are willing to get on the ballot and run for an office and we need chapters who are behind these members 100%.
Presidential elections are our best chance at winning local races because so many people only vote in Presidential elections. We can no longer continue to let the republicans run unopposed on the local level. We need democrats on there for every office, because each candidate will bring their voters to the polls who will in turn vote for other Democrat’s in the race.
We will win this state by building from the ground up and our TDW chapters are an important part of this strategy.
So my message for April, is recruit, recruit, recruit. Recruit members, recruit candidates, and let’s renew our passion and commitment to turning Texas blue. The next time we have a Blue Ribbon Lobby Day, I want to visit more offices that contain Democrats and fewer that contain Republicans.
