The Republicans legislators of Texas did the one thing they should never do. They underestimated women. They didn’t think we would notice the anti-choice bill they slipped into the special session. They didn’t think we could organize enough to ever truly challenge them and they certainly didn’t think we would speak loudly enough to literally drown out their attempts to retstrict a woman’s private health decision. Now that they have called a second special session in which the bill will most likely pass, they probably think that we will just sit down, shut up and stop caring. Not so Mr. Dewhurst, not so.
Texas women will hold a rally on the south steps of the Capitol at noon on Monday July 1st to welcome ya’ll back to the Capitol and show them that we are watching and we can organize. If they think that was just a small unruly mob at the Capitol on Tuesday, wait until 2014 when this “mob” goes to the polls. Don’t ignore us and don’t underestimate us.
If you can’t make it down to the Capitol, please call your local representative and senator to register your opposition to this bill.
