I know that your calendar is marked for February 22-24, 2013, Wyndham Hotel, Austin, Texas.
This year, more than ever, we as TDW members have to take our convention theme home and turn Texas Blue! If Texas is going to be a Blue state again, it is up to us. We have the power, the ‘stick ability’, the persuasive ability, and the organization to make it hap-pen. It all begins in Austin at the con-vention.
Here are some things that will happen at the convention:
Registration begins on Friday after-noon at 3:00 p.m. with Bexar County in charge. Capital Area will be the hospi-tality suite host where you can gather to visit and have snacks. Esther’s Fol-lies is a continued favorite and a block of 50 seats have been reserved for the 8:00 p.m. performance, so get your tick-ets early before they are gone.
Saturday morning, you can enjoy a continental breakfast at the hospitality suite beginning a 7:30 a.m. If you did not arrive in time Friday night (before 7:00 p.m.) to pick up registration mate-rials, you can do so beginning at 8:00 a.m. The business meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 11:30 a.m. in time to prepare the room for the Star Awards Luncheon.
REMEMBER: the silent suction (thanks to Bell County) will be open all day on Saturday. We will also have vendors on site, so be sure and shop.
We have wonderful workshops begin-ning at 1:30 p.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. Five workshops are planned so choices will have to be made for your selections: Getting women out to vote; Treasurer reporting and record keep-ing; Organizing your county or you pre-cinct; Social media, how to promote your chapter and yourself; Fundrais-ing; Roundtable discussion group for presidents.
There will be time for yourself before the Gala Awards Dinner. At the dinner, we will recognize awards for out-standing achievement categories. There will be a little music after the dinner by some talented young women. The auction closes at 7:00 p.m. with time to collect your items and pay.
The Board Meeting will be Sunday morning for newly elected officers.
Sunday, depart for home, have a safe trip and inspire your chapters to never give up in the quest to TURN TEXAS BLUE!
